PATH
PREPARATION
Do a walk through
along the proposed delivery path. If you have two possible
paths, Carefree Spas will help you determine the best path. Look
for gates to be a minimum of 40" wide, overhead clearance should
be 8' or longer depending upon Carefree Spa model selected).
Note number of steps or terrain and elevation changes. Gas and
water meters could be a concern. If you are installing a
spa under a covered deck, the clearance of the deck should be
noted to allow for suitable spa cover clearance.
HOT TUB
SUPPORT PREPARATION
You
may have an existing reinforced deck or patio ready for a
spa. It is best to have a perfectly level surface. Do not
put the spa on pea gravel or paver stones. When a hot tub is
empty it weighs 800 plus pounds. With water and
occupants a hot tub will weigh upwards of 3,000 pounds. A deck should be able to support
a total load of 3,000 lbs. pounds plus, and support 125lbs
per square foot. Great care should be taken in this
case that the hot tub does not become out of level. Design
the hot tub site for water to
drain away from hot tub, especially the equipment area.
Consult with Carefree Spas at 303-321-9600 if you plan for
the spa to be placed in the ground, in a vault or recessed
in a deck.
SERVICE ACCESS
The
in-ground or built-in spa installation sounds like a dream
design come true but there needs to be service access
to the spa. The side of the spa that contains the pumps,
heater and other equipment should be fully accessible so
that a technician can repair or replace these components.
ELECTRICAL
REQUIREMENTS FOR HOT TUB
Only a
licensed electrician should electrically connect or
disconnect your hot tub. Each Carefree Spa owner's manual
has unique electrical specifications and should be reviewed
by your electrician. Carefree will help you plan for a
safe hot tub installation that meets each local government
code. Most spas are going to run on 220/240 volts and should
be hard wired to an electrical disconnect dedicated (not
shared with other appliances) to the hot tub. If your spa
runs on 110/120volts you may use a G.F.C.I. cord that plugs
into a dedicated grounded outlet. The electrical disconnect
for the tub must be placed within site of the hot tub and a
minimum of 5' away (maximum line of site). The entire hot tub should be tested and
recognized by a recognized testing organization such as U.L., E.T.L. or T.U.V. |
